Adaptors
Baader Planetarium offers a very broad range of adaptors for nearly all applications. With the right adaptors it is often possible to solve even tricky problems.

Telescope-Service carries Baader's entire adaptor range. On this site we have listed the most important ones.
How to Order

Adaptors are quite tricky. Most adaptors exist both ways - e.g. an adaptor with T2 male thread on one side and SC female on the other side, as well as an adaptor with SC male on the one side and T2 female on the other side.

As a consequence of this misunderstandings often occur.

We always list all adaptors starting with the telescope adaptation and last with the eyepiece / camera side. Example: The adaptor T2 - 1.25" has a T2 thread on the side of the telescope and 1.25" on the side of the eyepiece. Opposite: The adaptor 1.25" - T2 has a 1.25" barrel on the side of the telescope and T2 on the side of the eyepiece / camera.

Separate Adaptor Presentations

24.5mm barrel for 1.25" eyepieces 24.5mm barrel for TS Super Plossls (and similar eyepieces)

Many amateurs own older telescopes with 24.5mm focuser. The telescopes themselves often have a good optical quality, but many 24.5mm eyepieces don't have such a good quality.

We now have a solution for this problem: This 24.5mm barrel can be attached to all TS Super Plossls up to 25mm focal length instead of the 1.25" barrel. The effective mechanical length is minimal - only about 6mm.

The adaptor also fits many other eyepieces. The eyepieces only need to have an M28.5 male thread when you remove the 1.25" barrel.

1.25" barrel extension tube Screw-In Type Extension Tube for 1.25" Barrels .... BA 1905130

This adaptor has two main applications:
1) If the focal plane of your telescope lies only a few millimetres too far outside then this adaptor solves the problem. You can screw it into the 1.25" barrel of your eyepiece or camera and then pull out the setup a few millimetres.

2) If you increase the distance between a focal reducer or glass path corrector on the one side and an eyepiece, binoviewer etc. on the other side you will enhance the factor of this corrector. Example: The standard 0.5x reducer will perform approximately as 0.3x reducer when used with this adaptor.

This parfocalizing ring is very convenient for reproducing the same focal plane quickly. For example if you are using an eyepiece to center an object and then insert the CCD camera you want to avoid having to refocus all the time. The Pull-Out Focuser can be used with 1.25" eyepieces. On the side of the telescope it has a T2 female thread. The eyepiece itself also sits in a fixed position. But the T2 male thread on the eyepiece side can be pulled out for a variable projection distance (eyepiece projection).

You probably know the situation: You have several different adaptations, and whenever you want to exchange them you need to unscrew everything. This costs time and on the long run it will even ruin the threads of the adaptors.

The T2 Quick Changer is the solution: You can place it on all parts that need to be changed frequently. With its short length of only 15mm you will usually not get a focus problem.

As a nice second function you can rotate your gear by 360° - instead of the random orientation that you get when you screw on the parts the conventional way.

Baader Clicklock visual back
 		 Click-Lock Deluxe 1.25" Eyepiece Clamp and Microfocuser .... BA 2458100

This high precision adaptor serves several purposes at once

- precisely holding heavy accessories. Two cylinders are pressed against the 1.25" barrel from the side. This centers the barrel and prevents it from shifting even by small amounts.
- small-distance microfocusing function. You can finely focus the eyepiece or camera by turning the outer ring. With one 360° turn the focus motion is only 0.75mm! The eyepiece will not rotate when you use this microfocus function. (Important: The focus motion only works from inside to outside, not the other way around. This may limit its usefulness for some applications.)

Baader Helical 1.25" visual back

The Microfocuser is particularly easy to use ...

... by just turning the upper part of the adaptor you move the eyepiece in or out. A complete 360° turn will result in about 4mm focus motion. The eyepiece will be rotated as you focus it. For this reason we do not recommend this adaptor for use with cameras.

1.25" Visual Back & Microfocuser with Compression Ring .. BA 2458125

Yet another perfect adaptor made by Baader. This adaptor doubles as T2 on 1.25" visual back and as 1.25" microfocuser. The eyepiece is held firmly with a compression ring and three locking screws.

Functions of the 1.25" Visual Back & Microfocuser:

-- Precise and smooth focusing

-- Avoid the typical image shift of a Schmidt-Cassegrain. You can use the primary mirror focus mechanism for just approximating the focus and do the actual fine focusing with this adaptor.

-- Solid 1.25" clamp with compression ring and three screws.

Recommended Adaptations:

Baader russian camera adapter B1508015
Russian Camera Adaptor - M42x1 on T2 		 Russian Camera Adaptor - M42x1 female, T2 male .... BA 1508015

With an optical length of only 7mm the Russian camera adaptor is a good solution to attach T2 accessories to classical M42 lenses. Suitable lenses are the MTO lenses for example. If you want to attach SLR cameras, want to use a star diagonal or other accessories that require a lot of back focus please first make sure that you can remove the infinity focus lock on your lens!

A standard adaptor if you want to attach 1.25" accessories to an adaptor or telescope with T2 male thread. The adaptor uses a single locking screw. This is normally absolutely sufficient, but demanding users might want to consider the Click-Lock instead.

This adaptor allows you to use T2 accessories (e.g. binoviewers, T2 star diagonals, T2 on 1.25" visual backs, ...) on the Takahashi M43 thread.

The adaptor has practically no effective length, so you can often avoid focus problems that would appear with other adaptations.

The adaptor has a female M34 thread which allows you to use Baader glass path correctors.

Compatible with many 2" star diagonals, e.g. the Baader Maxbright, the TS dielectric diagonal, ... The adaptor offers a shorter adaptation to avoid focus problems.

2" Parfocalizing Ring

This parfocalizing ring fits on normal 2" barrels of eyepieces, adaptors, ... The ring is locked with two slug screws (at 120° angle). The length is only about 5mm to avoid focus problems.
Applications - Solutions - Examples:

A frequent problem appears if eyepieces (or other accessories) with safety undercut are to be held by eyepiece clamps with compression ring. Then it is possible that the compression ring gets stuck in the undercut, which can even make it impossible to get the two parts apart anymore!

Solution:  .......................................With the 2" parfocalizing ring you can prevent the barrel from entering the 2" clamp too far. That way the problem can be avoided.
Another application: With the 2" parfocalizing ring you can permanently change the focal plane of an accessory. Example: If you have two eyepieces with a different focal plane you can attach the parfocalizing ring so that both eyepieces have the same focal plane.
These are but two of many applications for the parfocalizing ring. Practical use will surely demonstrate many other applications.

Two screws lock the eyepiece tightly through a compression ring. This centers the eyepiece (or other accessory) and holds even the heaviest accessories securely in place.

The adaptor has several additional threads for extra functions:

- a T2 female thread that allows you to attach the adaptor to telescopes or parts with T2 thread.

- an M34 female thread that allows you to attach Baader glass path correctors.

- a T2 male thread for use of the adaptor as eyepiece projection adaptor. Can be combined for example with the T2 extension tubes.

The barrel has a safety undercut to prevent it from dropping out of the focuser.

2" visual back for Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes 2" Visual Back with additional 2" filter thread

A really clever idea: With this adaptor you can use normal 2" accessories (with 2" barrel instead of SC thread) with your Schmidt-Cassegrain and at the same time use 2" filters!

Advantages:
-- You can permanently install a "soft" minus city light filter (e.g. Skyglow, or just a normal IR cut filter) which will not only perform its duty as a filter, but also keep dust out of the telescope!
-- You can switch eyepieces without having to change the filter from one eyepiece to the other all the time.

The adaptation is simple ( see the left animation )
-- remove the 1.25" visual back or the star diagonal
-- screw part number 17b to the SC thread of the telescope
-- screw the desired filter into the 17b adaptor

SC Focal Adaptor - Ultra Short .... BA 2958500B

The effective length of this adaptor is only 10mm!

With this adaptor you can attach T2 accessories (cameras, ...) to your Schmidt-Cassegrain. In some cases a particularly short adaptation is needed to avoid focus problems or for example a collision with the fork mount of the SCT. Aside from a slightly higher price this adaptor has no disadvantage compared with "traditional" longer focal adaptors for SCs.

2" visual back "four in one"
Baader Four-in-One Adaptor		 2" Visual Backs for many focusers - with compression ring - Top Quality made by Baader

Many Skywatcher, Bresser, Celestron... telescopes have decent quality focusers, but the eyepiece or star diagonal is held by one or two small screws. The same is the case for many Vixen telescopes.

For these telescopes we offer 2" clamps with compression ring. The adaptor is very precise and holds the accessories firmly and precisely.

- the Four-in-One clamp also has the M60 and the M68 thread, but also an M56 female thread. In addition it has an M68 male thread on the side of the eyepiece. This is particularly useful for eyepiece projection purposes or other adaptations.

OPFA - "Ocular (Eyepiece) Projection and Focal Adaptor"

Baader's OPFA is not just "yet another" simple eyepiece projection adaptor for taking photos of the moon and the planets.

Instead it consists of several separate parts for best flexibility of use. You can use it just as well for "extreme" projection for planetary imaging as well as for conventional projection photography.

Each OPFA version consists of three to four separate parts that can of course also be used separately for various additional applications. From left to right:
2x 40mm T2 extension tubes
1.25" pull-out focuser (variable T2 extension with 1.25" eyepiece clamp inside)
- Telescope adaptation (depending on the actual model. See table below. The OPFA-4 has no separate telescope adaptation)

You can utilize one or both T2 extension tubes. In addition you can pull out the variable T2 extension for further flexibility.

On the inside all parts are carefully blackened.
